New Showbiz Analysis

Argylle serves as a postmodern genre exercise that combines progressive casting with traditional action-adventure structures. It provides a female-led narrative and a multi-ethnic ensemble, moving away from a strictly homogeneous Western cast. However, the film falls short of deeply challenging systemic social hierarchies. While it offers significant roles to female leads, it lacks meaningful representation for LGBTQ+ identities and characters with disabilities. Ultimately, the film incorporates diverse identities into familiar blockbuster formats rather than using them to reorder social or racial hierarchies.
