Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Limited

The film focuses on a heterosexual romantic pairing between Mary and PJ. There is no evidence of queer romantic arcs or non-cisnormative identities within the narrative.

Gender Representation

Fair

Mary demonstrates significant agency and psychological resilience while navigating a survival scenario. This disrupts the passive victim trope, though the plot also explores PJ's descent into madness.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

The identities of the protagonists and the antagonist are not specified. While the film critiques class-based power dynamics, the racial dimensions of the hierarchy are unconfirmed.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Limited

The story critiques socioeconomic hierarchies by framing wealthy deviants as predatory. However, the conflict centers on individual survival rather than a deconstruction of broader cultural or religious institutions.

Disability Representation

Fair

The narrative touches on psychological instability through PJ's madness. It is unclear if mental health is treated with agency or used as a standard horror device.

Strengths

  • Mary provides a strong example of female agency and psychological resilience in a high-stakes survival setting.
  • The plot offers a critique of systemic exploitation and the predatory nature of wealthy, established power structures.

Areas for Improvement

  • The narrative lacks explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities or non-cisnormative romantic arcs.
  • There is no clear evidence of racial or ethnic diversity within the character descriptions provided.
  • The film does not provide verifiable representation of characters with visible or invisible disabilities.

AI Analysis

The film operates primarily as a character-driven horror study centered on a heterosexual couple. While it offers some subversion of gender tropes through Mary's resilience, it lacks broader intersectional depth. Narrative elements focus on individual survival and psychological torment. The critique of wealth and power is present, but the film does not explicitly engage with diverse racial, cultural, or queer identities. Representation remains limited to a traditional romantic structure. Without clear evidence of neurodivergent characters or diverse casting, the film stays within conventional horror boundaries.
