New Showbiz Analysis

Violence of the Mind anchors its thriller plot in the evolving bond between Sebastian and Max. Their shared criminal activities define the moral landscape, shifting from initial guilt to active exultation. This dynamic ensures the same-sex relationship remains the primary engine of the story rather than a background detail. The supporting cast provides necessary contrast. Two female friends actively observe the men’s behavior, recognizing the toxicity of the relationship. While they function as witnesses, their presence adds a layer of external judgment to the central dynamic. The mixed-race cast includes actors of varied backgrounds, though the most powerful roles remain with white performers. The film’s scope is narrow, focusing on individual psychological instability rather than broader societal structures. It does not engage with disability, religion, or class in any meaningful way. The result is a straightforward horror narrative where the central couple’s actions dictate the entire moral framework.

Official Synopsis

The story involves a young waiter Sebastian, who meets an older man, Max. It seems that Max has a fascination with violence and is looking to indulge his fantasy. So, when the two men meet a perfect stranger, it seems only fitting that they kill him. The two then move from feeling guilty to feeling exultation, and soon they're on the hunt for more victims to feed their rush. They both have a female friend, both of whom know that something is going on with their friend, suspecting that this relationship isn't exactly healthy.
