Office is a character-driven professional drama that prioritizes individual ambition and romantic dynamics. While it avoids harmful stereotypes, it adheres to traditional narrative structures regarding romance and professional hierarchy. The film offers some nuance through its female lead, Kat, whose hidden motivations provide a layer of agency. However, the story remains within the bounds of conventional romantic drama. Culturally, the film maintains authenticity to its Hong Kong roots. It focuses on the meritocratic and social complexities of a high-stakes financial environment rather than exploring intersectional or subversive identity politics.
