New Showbiz Analysis

Prom Dates centers on the autonomy of its two female leads, Jess and Hannah. By having them proactively break up with their dates to honor a childhood pact, the film shifts the power dynamic towards self-determination. The narrative structure emphasizes personal identity over communal milestones, providing a fresh perspective on the coming-of-age comedy genre. However, the lack of specific details regarding racial, ethnic, or disability representation makes it hard to assess the film's overall inclusivity.
