Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis is a traditional production that prioritizes the 'sports hero' archetype over complex identity issues. The narrative structure reinforces conventional hierarchies of gender and social structure, focusing on individual merit and family ties. The film operates within the framework of sports clichés, emphasizing physical mastery and the preservation of legacy. This focus limits the scope for exploring diverse identities or subverting established social norms. Ultimately, the work serves as a faithful adaptation of its source material but does not engage in the deconstruction of social institutions or utilize identity-driven frameworks to drive its plot.
