New Showbiz Analysis

Are You Here is a genre-driven horror film that emphasizes supernatural clichés and economic themes over identity-based storytelling. The narrative revolves around a group of business partners facing a metaphysical threat, focusing on plot mechanics rather than social representation. The ensemble includes a mix of professional roles, but the film does not show a clear intention to disrupt social hierarchies or explore diverse lived experiences. Instead, it adheres to traditional genre structures where the central conflict is external and supernatural. Overall, the film lacks representation of LGBTQ+ or disability issues. While it features a central female figure and operates within a specific cultural context, it does not go beyond standard genre conventions to achieve progressive representation.
