New Showbiz Analysis

Sérgio Amon’s drama excels as a nuanced character study that avoids simplistic character types. By contrasting Raul’s outgoing nature with Saul’s psychological fragility, the film explores the tension between individual psychology and societal expectations. The film’s strength lies in its refusal to offer clear-cut answers about the protagonists’ relationship. This ambiguity challenges viewers to consider human connections outside rigid traditional frameworks. However, the film’s narrow focus limits its scope. The male-centric viewpoint and lack of visible ethnic diversity restrict the breadth of its social commentary.
