New Showbiz Analysis

Geoffrey Wright’s adaptation successfully challenges traditional gender roles, particularly through the powerful and manipulative Lady Macbeth. This adds a sophisticated layer to the central power struggle. However, the film is constrained by a lack of diversity. The casting remains largely homogeneous, and there is no representation of LGBTQ+ identities or non-assuming gender matches what was assigned at birth characters within the urban underworld setting. Overall, the film provides a strong critique of institutional authority and traditional moral frameworks but falls short in offering a diverse range of racial or sexual identities.
