What starts as an animal lab experiment leads, in the future, to the development of artificial beings capable of carrying out the most varied and complex of tasks. Before being delivered to their customers, the manufacturer develops a kind of final quality control test, supervised by a technician, where certain skills (like learning the customer’s language) are improved. This part of the process invariably occurs in a closed environment, usually a house with key characteristics of the customers home. Alpha is one of such artificial beings. He and Beta are a couple only a few weeks away from being shipped to their future owners in Japan.

The film centers on a partnership between two artificial beings, Alpha and Beta. This non-biological relationship disrupts traditional heteronormative frameworks by exploring intimacy through non-human entities.
Gender Representation
Gender dynamics remain largely undefined, focusing instead on the roles of technicians and artificial beings. The narrative suggests a potential subversion of labor hierarchies through these functional roles.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The plot involves the eventual deployment of artificial beings to Japan, hinting at cross-cultural movement. However, the specific ethnicities of the technicians and beings are not detailed.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story critiques institutional authority and the ethics of capitalism. It uses a simulated testing environment to metaphorically examine how systemic structures constrain individual identity.

AI Analysis
Alpha explores identity through a post-humanist lens, using artificial intelligence to examine agency and relational complexity. By centering the story on non-human subjects, the film bypasses traditional biological hierarchies to question how consciousness is commodified. The narrative's strength lies in its thematic critique of systemic oppression. The struggle for autonomy against a controlling manufacturer provides a framework for discussing how institutions shape and limit the individual. While the film offers sophisticated social inquiry, it lacks specific details regarding the visual or ethnic identities of its human and artificial characters.
