AI Analysis

American Poltergeist functions as a conventional genre piece that prioritizes supernatural tension over social complexity. While it avoids common male-centric horror tropes by centering a female lead, the narrative lacks broader intersectional depth. The film's focus on a localized, potentially homogeneous setting in Massachusetts suggests a lack of racial and ethnic diversity. Without evidence of diverse casting or systemic critique, the story remains within traditional storytelling boundaries. Ultimately, the film provides a standard horror experience. It grants agency to its female lead but fails to disrupt social or cultural norms through its character demographics or thematic scope.
