Naples to New York is a period drama that emphasizes the immigrant experience and the quest for ability to act. Following Carmine and Celestina from post-war Naples to New York, the film delves into themes of displacement and survival. By focusing on the Italian diaspora, the narrative provides a meaningful look at how underrepresented groups navigate new cultural landscapes. However, the film's diversity profile is limited by a lack of representation of LGBTQ+ identities and disability issues. While gender roles seem secondary to survival, the scope of characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity remains narrow.
