New Showbiz Analysis

The film follows a familiar whodunit template: a sharp male expert solves a crime among affluent hosts. This structure concentrates narrative power in one gender and one cultural perspective, while the setting and class dynamics reinforce established hierarchies. Women appear in the ensemble but do not steer the investigation or hold decisive authority. The absence of LGBTQ+ and disability representation, combined with a racially homogeneous cast, narrows the range of lived experiences reflected on screen. Cultural specificity is clear—Italian language, locale, and social codes—but it does not translate into broader inclusion. The result is a competent genre piece that mirrors traditional casting and storytelling conventions rather than challenging them.
