Dum is a conventional action-drama that adheres to established genre frameworks. The story prioritizes a hero's journey and traditional romantic dynamics over the exploration of diverse identities or social subversion. The film's structure is built around a male-centric pursuit of justice and patriotism. While it offers a South Asian perspective, it lacks depth in representing multiple aspects of diversity or deconstructing systemic hierarchies. Ultimately, the film functions as a standard genre piece, relying on familiar clichés of heroism and romantic companionship rather than intentional diversity.
