Rod and Cherri are the unmistakable king and queen of Echo High. When new kid Spud arrives, he makes a faux pas so bad that Rod forces him to be his girl's slave. What unfolds is the tale of Cherri and Spud's blossoming relationship behind Rod's back, and their untimely demise on the night of the prom. A tale of tragedy that could only be as irreverent and sensational through the pen (or pencils, if you will) of Bill Plympton.

AI Analysis
Bill Plympton’s work uses surrealist animation to dismantle conventional social expectations. The film succeeds in challenging power structures by centering a relationship that defies the established social order of the high school hierarchy. However, the film lacks depth in specific identity categories. Without visual or narrative evidence regarding race or disability, these areas remain unaddressed, preventing a more comprehensive diversity profile. Ultimately, the film is a study of social stratification. It earns its score by critiquing traditional gender roles and the tyranny of social archetypes, even while remaining silent on other demographic markers.
