Santiago Loza’s *Extraño* is a contemplative study of human transience that rejects traditional dramatic structures. The film succeeds by deconstructing the 'hero’s journey,' focusing instead on existential drift and the rejection of capitalist productivity. By centering on a protagonist who has abandoned his professional identity, the narrative challenges social milestones and the necessity of utility. The relationship between Axel and the pregnant woman is framed as a transient, non-institutionalized connection rather than a structured domestic contract. While the film lacks explicit LGBTQ+ identities or multi-ethnic highlights, it provides a meaningful critique of Western institutions and traditional masculine archetypes through its intimate, atmospheric storytelling.

Official Synopsis
The protagonist is Axel, aged about 40, a doctor who no longer practices his craft. He is living temporarily with his sister and her children. He doesn't do much, just exists a little between the living and their things. One day, he meets a young, pregnant woman. A relationship develops, a kind of love, and they live together, like driftwood temporarily clinging on to each other.
