AI Analysis

Growing Up functions as a realist character study of adolescent social hierarchies. It succeeds in providing a nuanced look at female-centric social ecosystems and emotional volatility. By centering the experiences of young girls, the film avoids relegating female adolescence to the periphery. However, the film lacks intersectional depth. The demographic casting is relatively homogeneous, reflecting a localized Spanish setting without multicultural variety. This limits the narrative's scope to a specific social snapshot rather than a diverse tapestry. Ultimately, the film prioritizes emotional realism over the subversion of social norms. While it offers meaningful gendered perspectives, it lacks the representation of LGBTQ+ identities or disability required for a higher progressive score.
