Between Heaven and Hell follows a conventional thriller arc: a widowed father, Mike Taylor, witnesses a murder and must protect his son while confronting his own grief. The story’s emotional core is paternal responsibility, not identity politics. The cast is racially mixed, yet the synopsis offers no indication that characters of color drive the narrative or challenge stereotypes. Women are largely sidelined, with Frank White’s wife reduced to a background presence. A preacher’s inclusion hints at traditional religious framing, but there is no evidence of LGBTQ+ or disability representation. The film’s diversity footprint is thin, anchored more by casting than by inclusive storytelling.
Category Breakdown
No LGBTQ+ characters appear or are identified. The murdered call girl is not linked to any same-sex relationship or identity markers, leaving queer presence entirely absent from the story.
The narrative orbits a grieving father protecting his son. The only other named woman is Frank White’s wife, who functions as a background figure rather than a fully realized character.
The top-billed cast mixes actors of color with white performers. The synopsis, however, does not clarify whether these characters wield narrative power or remain peripheral.
The plot stresses personal responsibility and family duty. A preacher appears in the cast, signaling traditional religious elements that are presented rather than interrogated.
No characters with physical or mental disabilities are mentioned in the available plot details or cast information, leaving disability representation entirely absent.
