Mom (1990) is a genre-bending horror film that challenges traditional social archetypes. By transforming the maternal figure into a monster, it questions the safety and stability of the domestic setting. However, the film remains narrow in its scope, lacking significant representation for LGBTQ+ identities and racial diversity. Ultimately, it offers a critical view of the nuclear family, using horror to question the sanctity of traditional Western structures.
