LGBTQ+ Representation
The story centers on a heteronormative romance between Anya and Dimitri. No LGBTQ+ characters or non-cisnormative identities appear in the cast.
Gender Representation
Anya serves as a highly capable, independent lead who drives the plot. Her relationship with Dimitri emphasizes mutual competence rather than traditional protector-and-damsel dynamics.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The cast is ethnically homogeneous, reflecting the historical settings of Russia and Paris. The film lacks a multi-ethnic ensemble or intentional diverse casting.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The narrative uses the Russian Revolution to explore themes of class and displacement. Rasputin is portrayed as a supernatural force amidst the era's socioeconomic upheaval.

AI Analysis
Anastasia succeeds as a character-driven adventure by subverting gendered passivity. Anya is an agentic protagonist who navigates her own identity crisis and environment with independence. However, the film remains limited by its adherence to traditional romantic structures and a lack of intersectional diversity. The cast is ethnically homogeneous, reflecting its specific historical context without expanding the social scope. While the film avoids harmful stereotypes, it does not actively deconstruct systemic power dynamics or provide representation for disability and LGBTQ+ identities.
