Synopsis

Leur morale… et la nôtre is a character study of cognitive dissonance, focusing on a couple that maintains a perfect public image while engaging in systemic retail theft. The film's strength lies in its subversion of social performativity and its critique of middle-class morality. However, the work lacks intersectional breadth. The narrative appears centered on a homogeneous cultural archetype, offering little representation regarding race or LGBTQ+ identities. The focus remains tightly on a specific, localized social environment in Béziers. Ultimately, the film functions as a postmodern critique of social order. It uses the domestic sphere to dismantle the perceived integrity of traditional capitalist and familial structures.
