New Showbiz Analysis

Poker.AM operates as a conventional situational comedy that prioritizes traditional character archetypes. The plot revolves around a male protagonist navigating social milestones like marriage and friendship, keeping the narrative within established social hierarchies. The film lacks complexity in addressing diverse identities, focusing instead on a localized Armenian cultural context. While it provides a specific cultural lens, it does not actively challenge or expand upon diverse identities or systemic structures. Ultimately, the film functions as a character-driven comedy of errors. It relies on familiar formulas rather than introducing diverse perspectives or disrupting traditional social norms.

He is going to make a proposal to his fiancé and for this occasion he managed to get all necessary things-both a ring and even a bright blue tie. He as well enlisted his best friend Garik's (Misho) support but the latter has poker championship final "at hand" and besides, there is an emergency situation at his work place. Garik asks for help and Musho (Hovhannes Azoyan), of course, cannot deny. And what consequences it had... Everything gets out of control and the main hero becomes the main acting character of the situations which are non-typical for him at all: funny, dangerous, fatal...
