Violencia functions as a gritty critique of systemic dysfunction rather than a conventional character study. It excels in deconstructing the social contract and challenging the sanctity of national institutions through a lens of sociopolitical realism. The film stands out by engaging with the complexities of identity within a conflict-ridden state. It moves away from homogeneous Western norms to examine the lived experiences of those caught in the mechanisms of violence. However, the narrative lacks specific representation of LGBTQ+ or disability issues. The focus on male militancy and survivalist themes leaves gaps in gender and identity diversity.

Official Synopsis
A man in chains, a young man who dreams of being part of something, to become a militant for an armed group who must wield a cruelty in which he may not believe in. The characters, each voluntary or involuntary part of a mechanism that overcomes them, reveal their greatness or misery in the “minimum” tasks that they perform to survive. From that sometimes morbid poetry of the everyday and the irrefutable truth of the details, we see a country whose social body is sick and injured.
