Heart of Light is a somber character study that stands out for its unique setting and cultural departure from Western norms. By focusing the drama in the Greenlandic landscape, the film avoids typical Western clichés and delves into themes of isolation and personal growth. The film successfully dismantles traditional social structures and the sanctity of the family unit. It emphasizes a more subjective, mystical journey through the desolate Arctic environment. However, the film lacks explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities or specific disability experiences, keeping the narrative centered on a single male perspective of trauma.
