In the wake of a collapsed marriage and his father's death, David Lamb hopes to regain his own sense of goodness by focusing his attention on Tommie, an awkward and unpopular 11-year-old girl. Convinced he can help her avoid a destiny of apathy and emptiness, David takes her on a road trip from Chicago to the Rockies to initiate her into the beauty of the mountain wilderness. The journey shakes them in ways neither expects.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film explores non-traditional relational structures and identity through David Lamb. It disrupts heteronormative expectations by focusing on emotional and sexual complexities outside standard marital frameworks.
Gender Representation
The narrative challenges traditional hierarchies by centering on David Lamb's unconventional masculinity. While female characters like Tommie act as catalysts for change, their agency is often filtered through the male protagonist.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The film appears to focus on a relatively homogeneous social environment. There is little evidence of a diverse racial cast or the use of intersectional identities to drive the plot.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story critiques traditional Western institutions, such as the nuclear family and religious support systems. It prioritizes individual morality and existential searching over established social or religious dogma.
Disability Representation
Themes of mental health and emotional fragility are central to the character's arc. The film avoids tropes by focusing on the unrefined reality of psychological distress and grief.

AI Analysis
Lamb is a character study that succeeds in disrupting conventional social expectations. It effectively deconstructs the traditional family unit and embraces moral relativism through its protagonist's journey. The film's strength lies in its sophisticated exploration of individual agency amidst personal disintegration. It moves beyond traditional tropes to examine the complexities of identity outside of standard hierarchies. However, the narrative lacks significant racial or ethnic breadth. The focus remains primarily on individual psychological states and class rather than a diverse representation of different backgrounds.
