New Showbiz Analysis

Higher Ground is a traditional adventure drama that prioritizes conventional heroism and individual ability to act. The narrative follows established genre clichés of the late 20th century rather than exploring diverse identities. The film's structure centers on masculine themes, such as professional disillusionment and male friendship. This focus, combined with a lack of diverse casting, keeps the representation within the demographic norms of 1980s cinema. Ultimately, the film serves as a standard genre piece. It aims to provide personal restorative justice for its protagonist rather than offering a critique of social hierarchies or systemic structures.
