The Mutilation Man operates within the conventional boundaries of the horror-thriller genre. Its narrative structure prioritizes physical suspense and the disruption of domestic stability over exploring identity politics. Because the story focuses on a predatory threat against a standard domestic unit, it lacks indicators of intentional characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. The film adheres to traditional formulas rather than challenging systemic power dynamics or social hierarchies. Ultimately, the film presents a narrow demographic focus, offering little to no subversion of the status quo regarding race, gender, or orientation.
