Chain Reaction is an intellectually dense film that uses the horror genre to question the stability of human experience. It stands out by rejecting moral clarity and salvation typically found in traditional horror narratives. The film's strength lies in its postmodern approach to morality and its departure from Western cinematic norms. By focusing on fragmented perceptions and subjective values, it offers a unique, non-Western perspective on human nature. However, the film's emphasis on psychological states as metaphors creates ambiguity regarding its portrayal of lived experiences. While it challenges social structures, it lacks specific evidence of diverse identity-driven character arcs.
Category Breakdown
The film serves as an allegory of human nature rather than focusing on specific LGBTQ+ storylines or relationships. There is no explicit depiction of LGBTQ+ characters or non-straight relationships.
The narrative emphasizes psychological states over traditional social roles. While it may challenge conventional gender expectations, specific subversions of power dynamics are not clearly defined.
The work challenges the typical Western perspective by examining evil through a non-Western viewpoint. It avoids Hollywood stereotypes and presents a culturally distinct take on horror.
The film rejects traditional moral frameworks by presenting an allegory of evil without salvation. It embraces moral relativism and questions the concept of a unified truth.
Themes related to schizophrenia suggest engagement with neurodivergence. However, these conditions might be used more as aesthetic tools for horror rather than giving characters significant roles in the story.

Official Synopsis
Chain Reaction is a kind of independent thinking itself. Since everyone has his or her own experience and values, I call the world of Chain Reaction “a view of schizophrenia”. Most of the images of the video surpass, as well as imitate daily life experience absurdly. The film is to analyze and oppose evil by the way of using the power of evil inside human nature. Chain Reaction is an allegory of evil but without the function of salvation like the other allegories.
