Black November stands out for its commitment to non-Western perspectives, centering a Nigerian community's struggle against corporate and governmental corruption. By positioning a underrepresented population as the primary agents of change, the film successfully deconstructs Eurocentric storytelling norms. While the film is highly effective in its racial and cultural critiques, it lacks depth in other areas of representation. There is no discernible focus on LGBTQ+ identities or specific gendered hierarchies within the collective struggle. Ultimately, the film serves as a powerful critique of how global industrial expansion impacts the Global South, prioritizing systemic justice and land rights over traditional Western-centric narratives.
