The time is 1945-46. 10 year old Eda and his friend Tonda live in a small village outside Prague. In school, their class is so wild and indisciplined that their teacher quits and is replaced by the militant Igor Hnidzo. He is very strict - but also very just. His weakness is his interest in young women. Plot by Mattias Thuresson.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film centers on childhood development and teacher-student dynamics in a mid-century village. It lacks LGBTQ+ characters or narratives that challenge heteronormativity, adhering to the social norms of the 1945-1946 setting.
Gender Representation
The narrative explores traditional authority through a male teacher's struggle with classroom discipline. However, the teacher's preoccupation with young women suggests a traditional masculine gaze that limits gender subversion.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
Set in rural Bohemia during the post-war era, the film depicts a culturally homogeneous Czech environment. This lack of racial diversity reflects the historical demographic reality of the period.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story provides a nuanced look at social order and authority in a post-war landscape. It explores the friction between individual agency and institutional structures through a complex portrayal of discipline.
Disability Representation
There is no evidence of characters with visible or invisible disabilities within the narrative. The focus remains on the interpersonal dynamics of the classroom and village.

AI Analysis
The film functions as a period-specific character study that prioritizes historical authenticity over modern intersectional frameworks. It captures the micro-politics of a classroom and the social transitions of post-war Czechoslovakia. While the film lacks diversity by contemporary standards, its homogeneity is a reflection of its 1945 setting. The narrative focuses on humanistic storytelling and the complexities of communal life rather than identity-based hierarchies. Ultimately, the work succeeds as a localized social observation, though it does not actively seek to subvert the traditional gender or racial structures of its era.
