Bacterium operates as a typical mid-2000s science fiction horror film. It relies heavily on established genre clichés, such as military teams responding to biological threats, which often reinforce traditional social hierarchies. While the cast offers some incidental diversity, the narrative structure does not actively challenge systemic norms. The focus remains on survival and restoring institutional order rather than addressing multi-layered identity issues. Ultimately, the film serves as a conventional genre exercise that prioritizes plot-driven survival over diverse or subversive character representation.
