AI Analysis

Beyond Darkness operates as a conventional genre piece that adheres to the social and narrative norms of early 1990s supernatural horror. The film relies heavily on established religious and familial archetypes to drive its plot, which limits its engagement with diverse perspectives. The production prioritizes visceral storytelling over the deconstruction of social hierarchies. By centering the narrative on a traditional priest and his family, the film reinforces existing patriarchal and heteronormative structures common to the era's horror cinema.
