Su Friedrich’s experimental work is a deep look at queer desire and the female perspective. Using a montage structure, the film challenges traditional narratives to explore identity and independence through both historical and personal lenses. The film stands out in its progressive handling of gender and LGBTQ+ themes, presenting queer intimacy as a central element. It effectively shifts the focus away from the male perspective to highlight female intellect and passion. However, the narrow cultural focus limits its impact. The emphasis on Western religious traditions and a lack of racial diversity prevent a higher overall diversity score.

Official Synopsis
It begins with footage from a stylish old potboiler about an isolated convent, whose tale of passions leashed and unleashed provides the leitmotif for a young lesbian who watches it and the lonely nun she pursues and seduces. As the two women's lives come closer to joining, voiceovers from the biography of a 16th century lesbian nun and the reminiscences of a woman's closeted romances at a Catholic school flesh out the theme.
