The film is a conventional dramatic work that adheres to the social and narrative norms of its 1989 production period. It prioritizes traditional heroic tropes and male-centric conflict over intersectional complexity. While the inclusion of Matt Murdock offers a nuanced look at disability and agency, the film lacks diverse casting and systemic critiques. The narrative remains rooted in standard 1980s television structures.
