This documentary prioritizes environmental stewardship and the rehabilitation of an orphaned lion cub over social identity narratives. While it avoids intentional engagement with identity politics, it succeeds in moving beyond idealized Western depictions of the African wilderness. The film gains merit by centering its story in Kenya, providing a non-Western perspective on conservation. However, the lack of focus on human social hierarchies or diverse character identities keeps the overall score at a baseline level. Ultimately, the work functions as a traditional natural history piece that offers moderate cultural nuance through its critique of conservation myths.
