New Showbiz Analysis

Panama serves as a conventional action-thriller that emphasizes genre clichés over social complexity. The narrative structure is driven by traditional masculine stereotypes and a Western-centric perspective focused on a U.S. military protagonist. While the geopolitical setting offers a chance to explore themes of Western interventionism and political corruption, the film's emphasis on defense contractors and arms deals confines its scope to standard thriller mechanics. This limits the potential for diverse and characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. Overall, the film lacks significant engagement with disability, LGBTQ+ identities, and diverse gender roles, resulting in a narrow thematic scope.
