Clear and Present Danger is a classic geopolitical thriller that prioritizes a critique of institutional corruption over demographic breadth. The film's strength lies in its thematic deconstruction of state authority and the systemic rot within intelligence apparatuses. However, this intellectual complexity is not reflected in the character archetypes. The film relies on traditional hierarchies, featuring a predominantly white, male cast and limited agency for female characters. While it engages deeply with the ethics of power, it lacks intersectional representation across gender, race, and orientation.
