Blackout is a high-concept disaster thriller that emphasizes systemic collapse over identity-focused storytelling. The plot revolves around a geomagnetic storm that plunges Europe into a technological dark age, forcing a diverse group to survive. The narrative relies on traditional survivalist themes, such as a vulnerable pregnant woman and an escaped convict. Despite the broad scope of the disaster, the characters' backgrounds are not specified racially or culturally. Ultimately, the film serves as a study of infrastructure failure rather than a vehicle for exploring social hierarchies or overlapping identities.
Category Breakdown
The film does not include any visible LGBTQ+ characters or non-cisgender identities. The story focuses entirely on a survival scenario without addressing assumptions about straight relationships.
A pregnant woman is a central figure in the survival struggle, but it is unclear if she has true control over her situation or if she is just a vulnerable maternal figure.
The setting features a large European population, but the specific racial and ethnic backgrounds of the characters are not detailed. The film follows a typical disaster-thriller format.
The story criticizes technology dependence through the collapse of Western infrastructure. It functions as a survival study rather than an exploration of specific religious or cultural viewpoints.
There are no characters with visible or invisible disabilities mentioned. The focus remains on the immediate physical threats posed by the blackout.

Official Synopsis
93 million miles from Earth, geomagnetic storms are projected from the sun's surface. When they hit Earth, they have little effect on living things, but can knock out the entire power grid. Today is just another day on Earth. But in two hours, a total blackout deprives 200 million European people of power. All hospitals, airports, emergency services and communication networks fail. Europe descends into an apocalyptic Dark Age. In the midst of this unprecedented disaster, two missing kids, an escaped convict, a very pregnant woman and several others struggle to survive. They say we can survive three minutes without air, three days without water. How long can we live without power?
