Marrying Mr. Perfect is a traditional romantic comedy that upholds genre clichés while offering minor subversions of class through an identity switch. The narrative remains rooted in conventional social structures. The film lacks layered representations of diverse identities, focusing instead on a localized Hong Kong context. It functions as a commercial comedy where romantic ideals prevail over systemic critiques of wealth and power.
