Trespassers operates as a typical horror film emphasizing survival and supernatural tension over social issues. The narrative structure relies on well-known genre conventions rather than social commentary. The film's focus on male surfers restricts the scope of representation. By centering Western travelers in a Mexican setting, the story follows a predictable outsider dynamic. Overall, the film lacks the necessary intention to break standard cinematic archetypes or offer a diverse range of perspectives.
