New Showbiz Analysis

A House Built on Lies places a woman at the center of a high-stakes thriller. She investigates her husband’s murder while managing postpartum recovery and infant care, giving her narrative control and agency. The cast includes actors of color in key roles, though the film does not explore their cultural or ethnic identities. Representation remains surface-level, with no deeper engagement beyond presence. LGBTQ+ characters are absent, and disability is reduced to short-term medical dependency. The story prioritizes suspense and family survival over broader social commentary, limiting its diversity impact.
