Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

2.9/10

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Minimal

The film focuses entirely on the interpersonal dynamics between male characters. There is no explicit depiction of non-cisnormative identities or same-sex intimacy.

Gender Representation

Limited

The narrative is heavily centered on male friendship and crisis. By excluding female perspectives, the film fails to challenge traditional gender hierarchies or provide female agency.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Minimal

The primary cast consists of white male protagonists. Within its rural Southwest setting, the film maintains a homogeneous racial profile without diverse ensemble elements.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The film uses a postmodern approach to disrupt expectations of agency. The unseen entities acting as directors serve as a metaphor for systemic control and existential relativism.

Disability Representation

Limited

Themes of addiction and psychological instability drive the plot. However, these are treated as narrative catalysts rather than a nuanced exploration of neurodivergence or chronic health.

Strengths

  • The meta-fictional narrative architecture offers a sophisticated deconstruction of reality and systemic control.
  • The film provides a high level of intellectual depth through its existential and postmodern themes.

Areas for Improvement

  • The film lacks gender diversity, almost entirely excluding female perspectives and agency.
  • The racial profile is homogeneous, failing to include diverse ensemble elements or race-bent casting.
  • Representation of disability is limited to addiction as a plot device rather than nuanced character study.

AI Analysis

Resolution is a specialized work of postmodern horror that prioritizes metaphysical inquiry over demographic breadth. It succeeds in its intellectual sophistication, using a meta-fictional architecture to challenge the characters' reality and the concept of authority. However, the film remains demographically traditional. The casting and gender distribution are narrow, focusing almost exclusively on a white, male-centric perspective that lacks intersectional depth. Ultimately, while the narrative is progressive in its deconstruction of truth, it is limited by its lack of diverse representation across gender, race, and identity.
