New Showbiz Analysis

Of Freaks and Men functions as a period piece that uses voyeurism to critique the fragility of the early 20th-century Russian social order. It successfully deconstructs social hierarchies and challenges the perceived morality of the upper class. However, the film's diversity is limited by its narrow historical and geographic focus. The narrative emphasizes class dynamics over the overlapping aspects of identity, resulting in a lack of racial and explicit LGBTQ+ depth. Ultimately, the film focuses more on disrupting social structures than showcasing diverse identities.
