Synopsis

Adam is cursed: one of his ancestors played a game and fell victim to a sorcerer or possibly Satan. The curse manifests through Adam and the game, making him attend strange amateur theatre where immensely talentless people try to do farce and a janitor wanders around with a game of Tic-Tac-Toe on his back.

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Limited

The film lacks explicit LGBTQ+ characters or narratives that critique heteronormativity. The plot focuses on a supernatural curse and amateur theatricality rather than queer identities.

Gender Representation

Fair

The story centers on a male protagonist, Adam, dealing with a generational curse. There is no evidence that the film subverts traditional gender hierarchies or power structures.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

The narrative does not provide details regarding the racial or ethnic backgrounds of the cast. The setting appears localized and surreal without clear indicators of diverse casting.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The film engages with themes of sorcery and potential satanic elements to disrupt traditional morality. It uses amateur theatre to critique social performance and institutional competence.

Disability Representation

Limited

Strengths

  • The film uses surrealist elements and farce to disrupt conventional narrative structures.
  • The use of supernatural themes provides a critique of social performance and institutional competence.

Areas for Improvement

  • The film lacks visible LGBTQ+ representation and non-cisnormative identities.
  • There is no documented evidence of racial or ethnic diversity within the cast.
  • The narrative does not provide meaningful representation of neurodivergence or physical disabilities.

AI Analysis

Skullduggery is a genre-driven surrealist comedy that prioritizes atmospheric horror and absurdist humor over intersectional representation. The narrative architecture focuses on a supernatural curse and the chaos of amateur theatre. While the film disrupts conventional storytelling through its use of farce, it lacks intentional demographic diversity. The characters appear to serve stylistic or plot-driven purposes rather than representing specific social identities. Ultimately, the film functions as a localized, surrealist experience that does not engage deeply with systemic social critiques or diverse character backgrounds.
