Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

Areas for Improvement

  • The narrative reinforces patriarchal structures through the landlord's economic control.
  • The story lacks representation of LGBTQ+ identities or disability.

AI Analysis

Arranged Marriage operates as a mid-90s genre drama driven by situational melodrama rather than social commentary. The plot relies on established tropes of economic and gendered power dynamics to move the story forward. While the film touches on the vulnerabilities of immigrant status and housing instability, these elements serve the central conflict of a transactional relationship. The narrative architecture reinforces traditional hierarchies rather than subverting them. Ultimately, the film lacks a sophisticated framework for exploring the systemic issues it presents, leaning instead on the exploitation of character precarity.
