Cup Final is a humanistic exploration of geopolitical tension. It uses the shared passion for soccer to bridge the gap between an Israeli soldier and a Palestinian Liberation Organization squad, moving away from polarized stereotypes. The film excels in presenting complex, layered identities by giving significant roles to both sides of the conflict. It avoids simplistic binary narratives, focusing instead on the shared humanity found in a universal interest. While the film lacks representation for certain groups, its strength lies in its ability to challenge traditional masculine hierarchies and nationalist resolutions through a lens of shared vulnerability.

The film places Israeli and Palestinian characters in close, personal interactions. The Palestinian Liberation Organization squad is shown as complex individuals with significant roles rather than just background figures.
The narrative emphasizes humanistic values over religious or patriotic sentiments. By using soccer as a universal language, the film critiques the rigidity of institutionalized conflict and nationalist morality.
