AI Analysis

Lair succeeds in disrupting traditional horror tropes by centering its narrative on a female protagonist with significant scientific agency. By placing a Black woman in a leadership role within an isolated research facility, the film challenges long-standing cinematic norms regarding racial and gendered hierarchies. However, the film remains largely contained within the survivalist genre. It prioritizes individual survival over broader socio-political or systemic critiques, resulting in a narrative that feels somewhat insulated from deeper cultural or ideological discussions.
