The film excels in its focused portrayal of disability and subversion of traditional domestic power structures. By centering a protagonist fighting for autonomy against a manipulative caregiver, the film avoids common clichés of dependency. However, the film's impact is limited by its narrow narrative scope. The lack of diverse representation and multi-layered breadth prevents a more inclusive social critique. Ultimately, the film is a localized psychological study. It succeeds in deconstructing the nurturing caregiver cliché but remains confined to a specific, non-diverse character dynamic.
