New Showbiz Analysis

Estándar succeeds by centering a neurodivergent-coded protagonist whose unique cognitive processing drives the plot. Instead of treating his traits as mere quirks, the film gives him real power to navigate a complex mystery. The film also challenges traditional masculine expectations by presenting a male lead defined by sensitivity and meticulousness rather than dominance. This provides a refreshing departure from standard thriller archetypes. However, the film lacks explicit confirmation regarding LGBTQ+ identities or specific racial demographics. While the narrative's focus on the 'non-standard' individual is progressive, the lack of clear multi-layered data limits its overall impact.

Official Synopsis

Tomás’ two great passions are classical music and a compulsion for putting things in order, which has led to his nickname “rarito” (weirdo). In Tomás’ tidy world, where he works stacking shelves in the supermarket of a quiet, uneventful neighborhood, something changes when his secret platonic love, Laura, disappears. However, thanks to his fondness for tidying up things and noting down everything, he analyses the habits and obsessions of an eccentric array of clients to find out who is behind Laura’s disappearance. In this town nothing is as “standard” as Tomás would like…
