Infinitum: Subject Unknown is a character-driven science fiction thriller that prioritizes psychological ability to act. By centering on Jane, the film presents a female protagonist who must use her intellect to dismantle institutional control. The narrative's strength lies in its thematic exploration of systemic oppression and cognitive struggle. However, the film's demographic breadth remains unclear due to a lack of specific information regarding racial and LGBTQ+ identities. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a critique of centralized authority, using a temporal loop to examine the resilience of the individual against a manufactured reality.
Category Breakdown
The film does not explicitly confirm the sexual orientations or gender identities of its characters. Although the solitary narrative structure allows for potential exploration of non-traditional identities, there is no specific evidence of same-sex relationships.
Jane serves as a strong female lead who demonstrates significant intellect and control over her actions. She actively resists the systemic threats posed by her captors rather than acting as a passive victim.
There is insufficient information regarding the racial or ethnic composition of the cast. Consequently, a definitive score for racial and ethnic diversity cannot be established.
The story critiques Western institutional power through the Wytness Quantum Research Centre. This setting serves as a metaphor for oppressive structures that prioritize scientific progress over individual autonomy.
The plot explores cognitive fragmentation and memory loss. Jane’s struggle to retain memory fragments offers a nuanced look at neurodivergent experiences and the psychological effects of trauma.

Official Synopsis
Jane is the subject of a twisted science experiment where she is placed in a parallel world and is forced to find a way to either alter her reality or be stuck in a time-loop, destined to repeat the same test over and over again, with no memory of her doing it before. But with each 'reset' she starts to retain fragments of memory. With clues pointing to the mysterious Wytness Quantum Research Centre, she tries to find a way out. (The film was shot entirely on an iPhone during the UK’s first lockdown.)
